VIDEO: Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears - Power to the Pussy (PTP)
It's always legit to have Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears back on the scene with new music and a tour. The veteran Austin TX-based band has several raucous records and are an entertaining live act. Boozy & garagey, they mix R&B, punk & blues with Daptone-esque horns, a concoction that is groovy and nasty. Taken from their forthcoming fifth LP Backlash, produced by Stewart Sikes (Loretta Lynn, Cat Power) and out Feb 10, "PTP" (Power to the Pussy) is a sexually charged romp of a song that sounds like Stax-gone-garage. They've made a fun animated video for the tune...

VIDEO: C.A.M.P.O.S. - Teosinte, from "Miracles & Criminals"
Here is another in a series of videos for tunes off of the Miracles & Criminals 2xLP by C.A.M.P.O.S., available now from the Peace & Rhythm webshop and wholesale from Forced Exposure. "Teosinte' might be one of the purest and most psychedelic songs of the year; it’s a heady track named for wild Mesoamerican corn and imbued with an almost ancient feeling somewhere among the electric guitars. A call of “Teosinte!” speaks to and from the soul while synths ramp up and launch the whole song into the stars." - Adriane Pontecorvo, PopMatters Purchase the vinyl here. Like CAMPOS on...

Ola Fresca bandleader and the project's visionary, Jose Conde: "In 1998, almost 20 years before the historic re-opening of diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba, I wrote a song called “Puente a Mi Gente” (Bridge to My People). Now, through the mediums of video and audio recording in a new arrangement of this song and a 6 minute video clip, the cultural bridge visualized in the song has been built! "Puente a Mi Gente" features Cuban musicians...
TWISTED: Grupo Fantasma covers "Immigrant Song"
After checking out the mighty Brown Sabbath show, a side project of Grupo Fantasma side project Brownout (with Brownout side project Money Chicha opening the bill - that's a lot of side projects!), I remembered that amazing clave-rock version of the Led Zeppelin banger "Immigrant Song" that Grupo played on a live video session for KUTX. These Texas badboys rip and shred on anything they want! One of our favorite group of musicians here at Peace & Rhythm. Check 'em out! http://grupofantasma.com/ http://kutx.org/ TWISTED features left-field cover versions of popular songs.
