Bobby Vince Paunetto / June 22, 1944 - Aug 10, 2010

An underrated name in Latin jazz, Bronx-raised Bobby Paunetto (born to an Italian father and Spanish-speaking mother) only made a few recordings before Multiple Sclerosis disabled him around '79. He was a vibraphonist, heavily influenced by Cal Tjader, who started playing in 1961. After a military stint, he attended Berklee School of Music in Massachusetts, studying with Gary Burton. He played with Clare Fischer, Tito Puente, Buddy Rich, Mongo Santamaria, Armando Peraza, both the Palmieri brothers and his idol Tjader, who wrote "Paunetto's Point" in his honor. Visual Clave Closing Reception Featuring Live Music By Bronx Descarga All Stars 8/14

DJ Bongohead’s Visual Clave exhibit closes it’s two-month stay at Bronx Music Heritage Center this weekend. Coinciding with the Bronx Salsa Fest 2015, there will be live music by Bronx Descarga All Stars. VISUAL CLAVE 50 Years of Latin Album Cover Design Visual Clave documents the little known evolution of ‘Salsa Graphics’ and  the expression of Latino identities through the prism of album cover art over  half a century of music packaging and graphic design. Drums & Dreams exhibit at Bronx Music Heritage Center

A joint exhibit between Charlie Rosario and Peace & Rhythm’s Pablo Yglesias is now showing at the Bronx Music Heritage Center, with an opening reception on May 2, with music by DJ Andujar and Charlie Rosario with Los Rumberos Callejeros.
