"body": "****\n\n**Peace & Rhythm** is excited to announce **_Close To Me_** , the new double 7-inch vinyl EP of four fun fan favorites from **Locobeach**. The tracks are all danceable cumbias familiar to the band’s followers as they are previously released on digital and have all been staples of their live sets over the years. This mini-box set of two hot dancefloor donuts will be great for DJ spins as well as aficionados and collectors, and comes with beautiful artwork courtesy of Selina Josephs.\n\nThe backstory to the EP is an interesting one, and emblematic of our times. Just before the COVID-19 Pandemic in March of 2020, New York’s tropical party band Locobeach began to record a follow up to their freshman LP from 2019, **_Psychedelic Disco Cumbia_**. Four songs from the sessions at Manhattan’s Cutuprá Studios were almost complete when the world ground to a standstill in March of 2020. When things began to open up a little the following year, the band put the finishing touches on the songs and released the first digital single, the humorous “Isabella,” composed and sung by **José Luis** “**Cheo” Pardo** (guitar, vocals, production, engineering). The three other tracks needed tweaking, and by early 2024 were ready for digital release as singles, kicking off with a brilliant reinterpretation of The Cure’s “Close To Me,” sung and arranged by **Joshua Douglas Camp** (guitar, keyboards, accordion, engineering). Next up was Camp’s urgent-sounding tropical film noire instrumental “Idea Desesperada” (Desperate Idea), propelled in part by some hot percussion from **Neil** “**Cutuprá” Ochoa**. This was followed by the playful “U.S. Marshall,” a sound library theme in search of a cartoon soundtrack, with the title being a play on band bassist **Edward Marshall** ’s last name.\n\n**_Close To Me_** is a snapshot in time; since the four tracks were recorded, original member **Fernando Valladares** (timbales, drums) left the band to return home to Venezuela, and it was decided to release the quartet of songs together as a vinyl EP instead of making them part of a future full-length album. Peace & Rhythm have been with Locobeach from its origins in 2015 as a live backing group for Joshua Camp’s solo studio project, C.A.M.P.O.S., through its ascendence as a self-sustaining party band with its own repertoire and debut album, to the present day. "body": "**__**\n\n \n\n**_Cosas Raras_** is the new album from Argentina’s cumbia hero **Rolando Bruno**. On _Cosas Raras_ Bruno and his band Grupo Arévalo romp through twelve tracks of their signature “cumbia trash” sound - a rough and ready mix of Peruvian-inspired cumbia, punk, and other vintage throwback musical and visual inspirations from pop culture (like UFOs, street food and horror movies), all spun together into a wild mashup. _Cosas Raras_ is the group’s third album, and finds them traveling even farther afield—exploring Arabic and flamenco influences, Afro disco, Japanese pop, Latin American _baladas_ , and even Dominican merengue. This last genre serves as inspiration for the album’s lead single, “Merentrash,” a fun and very danceable “merenrap” tune with a retro Miami club vibe. In the vein of contemporary experimental underground tropical artists like Chicha Libre, Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero, Acid Coco, Money Chicha, Xixa, and C.A.M.P.O.S., Rolando Bruno Y Su Grupo Arévalo are an important part of the scene, but are not yet as well known in the U.S. at the moment. _Cosas Raras_ is set to change this unwarranted obscurity with its infectious rhythms, psychedelic guitar flourishes and memorable melodies. The album release is an international collaborative effort from Peace & Rhythm, Electric Cowbell and DJ Cajon Records.\n\nMulti-instrumentalist and graphic designer Rolando Bruno was born and raised in Buenos Aires and lived three years in Spain, before returning home to pursue his unique musical sound and accompanying visual style. His current musical project was conceived in 2005, in tandem with his former garage punk group, Los Peyotes. But where Los Peyotes were based on a traditional rock group format, Bruno’s cumbias came together in the solitude of his room, with his “best friend,” his computer, which he uses to create his backing tracks, dubbing it his “Midi Orchestra” with his typical tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.\n\nIn 2015 Bruno expanded his approach, putting together a live band and reintroducing himself as Rolando Bruno Y El Grupo Arévalo. His backing band is a “supergroup” of sorts, composed of underground musicians from Buenos Aires, including members of Les Mentettes, Alfonso El Pintor, Los Alamos, and Pecera. The so-called **“Green Album”** has received a facelift for its vinyl debut, with a remix of the artwork and an interior gatefold spread chock-full of band memorabilia from the era. What’s more, the original album tracks have been properly mastered from the reel-to-reel tapes for the first time, and the added live recordings give fans a taste of what it was like to hear tunes from the album performed on stage back in the day. \n\nBio Ritmo are known as pioneers of the **indie-salsa** music revival, and this visionary album is the one that kicked the band into high gear in the second chapter of their career. Though inspired by classic salsa dura artists of the seventies, Bio Ritmo have created their own unique sound, some say “experimental” for their mixing of influences not commonly found in salsa music.",

After recording the double LP live album Décimo Aniversario En Vivo En El Nido for the band’s 10th anniversary in 2018 and the motion picture soundtrack for La Ultima Gira (the Daniel Santos biopic from 2021), plus the reissues of Lluvia Con Sol (2013/2023) and Salsa Macabra (2010/2018), “Ikiru” and “Familia” are the first original songs released by the band since their last new full-length album, La Maldición del Timbal (2016). \n \nThese two tracks will not be released in a future full length album and will remain exclusive to the 45 / double digital single, as it closes a previous era of Orquesta el Macabeo (celebrating 15 years of existence) and opens a new one (looking towards the future), with new members and new songs for an upcoming LP currently in the works. The cover artwork, made by Puerto Rican tattoo artist Manolo Fernánez (Instagram: @manolo_shodai_tattoos ), can be appreciated as a representation of this evolution of the band in reparation for a new era. “Ikiru” means “To Live” in Japanese, and “Familia” means “Family\" in Spanish, two concepts that are central to Orquesta El Macabeo’s existence. "body": "\n\n\n\nJust in time for Halloween / El Día de Los Muertos 2023 comes the scary good 45 from El Bigtoe y El Guámbito: Sabroso Y Espooky: El Encuentro Vol. 2, “Sabroso y Espooky” b/w “Mantequilla y Mermelada,” from Peace & Rhythm. The A side is a dark “sonidero cumbia rebajada” (a slowed-down cumbia done in the Mexican sound system DJ style), full of menace and spooky subterranean sounds, while the flip is a much brighter uptempo psychedelic tropical number that feels like a galloping horse ride clear across the Texas desert into Mexico.\n\n \nEl Bigtoe y El Guámbito is a unique partnership a long time in the making, fresh as today, forward-looking to tomorrow, but rooted in yesterday. As the dynamic duo describes it, their project, titled “El Encuentro” (The Encounter), is “a culmination of antipodal hemispheric daydreams cast into the dark sky and coalesced in a dimly lit Central Texas studio anchored by the whirling hum of an AC window unit.” A blend of analog and traditional instrumentation with electronic implements from guitars to synths to samplers, the project is an exploration of tropical music from Colombia, engaging with but also moving into deeper palates than the ubiquitous cumbia. What emerged was an evolution of both of their sonic histories, music made with freedom and abandon, combining and reinterpreting solid influences and flighty whims alike. \n \nOriginally conceived as a four song EP, the collaboration by El Bigtoe (Beto Martínez - Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Money Chicha, The Los Sundowns) and El Guámbito (Victor-Andrés Cruz - Nemegata, Bulla En El Barrio, MAKU Soundsystem) was initiated in late 2019 just before the world stood still and entered pandemic times. The pair began a weekly meeting at Martínez’s fabled Lechehouse Music Studio as an exercise in songwriting and production experiments. They had previously worked together when Martínez recorded Nemegata’s critically acclaimed Hycha Wy LP in 2019. After things started up again, the first two songs were released on a 7” 45RPM single as El Encuentro, Vol. 1 by Chicago’s Sonorama Discos. Following soon after, Peace & Rhythm realized it would be perfect to fast-track the other two cuts from the project, released as Sabroso Y Espooky: El Encuentro Vol. 2, in order to have them available for folks during the scariest time of year. The A side is a dark “sonidero cumbia rebajada” (a slowed-down cumbia done in the Mexican sound system DJ style), full of menace and spooky subterranean sounds, while the flip is a much brighter uptempo psychedelic tropical number that feels like a galloping horse ride clear across the Texas desert into Mexico.</p>\n<p>El Bigtoe y El Guámbito is a unique partnership a long time in the making, fresh as today, forward-looking to tomorrow, but rooted in yesterday. As the dynamic duo describes it, their project, titled “El Encuentro” (The Encounter), is “a culmination of antipodal hemispheric daydreams cast into the dark sky and coalesced in a dimly lit Central Texas studio anchored by the whirling hum of an AC window unit.” A blend of analog and traditional instrumentation with electronic implements from guitars to synths to samplers, the project is an exploration of tropical music from Colombia, engaging with but also moving into deeper palates than the ubiquitous cumbia. What emerged was an evolution of both of their sonic histories, music made with freedom and abandon, combining and reinterpreting solid influences and flighty whims alike.</p>\n<p>Originally conceived as a four song EP, the collaboration by El Bigtoe (Beto Martínez - Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Money Chicha, The Los Sundowns) and El Guámbito (Victor-Andrés Cruz - Nemegata, Bulla En El Barrio, MAKU Soundsystem) was initiated in late 2019 just before the world stood still and entered pandemic times. The pair began a weekly meeting at Martínez’s fabled Lechehouse Music Studio as an exercise in songwriting and production experiments. They had previously worked together when Martínez recorded Nemegata’s critically acclaimed Hycha Wy LP in 2019. After things started up again, the first two songs were released on a 7” 45RPM single as El Encuentro, Vol. 1 by Chicago’s Sonorama Discos. Following soon after, Peace & Rhythm realized it would be perfect to fast-track the other two cuts from the project, released as Sabroso Y Espooky: El Encuentro Vol. 2, in order to have them available for folks during the scariest time of year. "body": "\n\nFurther adventures in psychedelic disco cumbia from one-man-band C.A.M.P.O.S. on the much-awaited second studio album\n\n**C.A.M.P.O.S.** is a one-man tropical electronic psych band consisting of multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer **Joshua Douglas Camp**. Though C.A.M.P.O.S. stands for Cumbias And More Psychedelic Original Sounds, there are no limits to Camp’s musical creativity, with the project taking cues from everything from Americana and pop rock to Cuban _son_ and German electronica. This is no surprise as Camp has been involved with many diverse groups over the years, including Latin-flavored outfits Chicha Libre, Locobeach and Los Crema Paraíso, but also his country band Westwork, the Eastern-European klezmer quintet Litvakus and literary rockers One Ring Zero. \n\nSince releasing his debut double LP as C.A.M.P.O.S.,****_Miracles & Criminals,_ on Peace & Rhythm in 2016, Camp has developed his repertoire into a live show that has garnered a devoted following, and which has also seen the live band he assembled evolving into its own distinct entity, Locobeach.\n\nWhen the pandemic forced Camp into exile he used the time to once more focus on C.A.M.P.O.S. and his one-man-band skills. This initially resulted in two albums, _Shake Up The World: Live In The Studio Vol. 1_ and _Vol. 2_ , both performed live and recorded in one take at his home studio (and both digitally released by Peace & Rhythm, in 2020 and 2021 respectively).\n\nIn addition, he continued to work on the long-awaited follow-up studio album to _Miracles & Criminals_, which had begun years prior and progressed in the fleeting moments when his other projects allowed. With time to once more concentrate on C.A.M.P.O.S., the album soon began to take shape, eventually coalescing into **_The Eighth Door_**. Though catalyzed by isolation, it is far from a solo effort, with Camp enlisting collaborators including pianist and arranger Marlysse Simmons (Bio Ritmo, Miramar), who had initially told Peace & Rhythm about Camp’s unreleased backlog of tropical tracks from back in the Chicha Libre days (which became _Miracles & Criminals_), to other Chicha Libre band mates Neil Ochoa and Karina Colis, as well as Gabo Tomasini (Yotoco), who was a founding member of Bio Ritmo and played in C.A.M.P.O.S.’s first live appearance in 2016. \n\n \n\nAs with all C.A.M.P.O.S. releases, _The Eighth Door_ takes you on a cosmic trip to a multi-dimensional landscape of the mind where the body also knows the pleasures of dance and sensuality, but this time there is more focus, with fewer songs and a fuller sound. Yes there is a dark side to planet C.A.M.P.O.S., to which the album sometimes ventures, but ultimately the record is a voyage of self-discovery, making connections between sounds and sentiments that, on paper, appear unlikely companions. Yet, once bound together by the intimate circuitry of Joshua Camp’s creativity and serious songwriting skills, all elements gel in a gravity-defying way. Exotic-sounding electronic keyboards, jangly, fuzzy guitars and percolating percussion loops seamlessly carry the listener through two sides of galaxy-spanning mini epics, sometimes with vocals, sometimes instrumental, and often infused with the shuffling beat of Colombia’s cumbia rhythm with a few disco, rock or salsa accents thrown in for good measure. \n\nCamp juxtaposes the raw and the smooth, destructive and redemptive, sweet and ominous, digital and analog, organic and synthetic, intimate and expansive, all of which combine into an apt metaphor for where we find ourselves today. After humbly coming to life on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, this rhythm—and everything it represents: its multi- ethnicity, its danceable pulse, its resilience—snaked its way up the mountains to reach Colombia’s urban capitals, Bogotá and Medellín, who transmitted the signal to Mexico, Peru, Argentina... Cumbia travelled, and wherever it landed it took hold; Charles Mingus got his fill in the 70s, Mexicans brought it across the US border in the 80s, Joe Strummer couldn’t get enough of it in the 90s; and wherever it landed, it has shown its flexibility, its ability to adapt to new environments.\n\nCumbiamuffin are the perfect example of what happens when cumbia arrives in a completely different continent. Since forming in 2010, they have become Australia’s premier large format cumbia orchestra, offering a twist on the genre that no one saw coming. They take their inspiration from cumbia’s brass band traditions, when the genre was adopted by orchestras in the 1940s, the start of its golden age, but they do not stop there. They also look further afield, to the big bands of Mexico and Peru, and even to the Caribbean, which is how their name came about. Cumbiamuffin represents the contraction of two musical styles that the group seamlessly bring together in one big, vibrant, joyous experience: cumbia and raggamuffin reggae. This is a group that can inject even more life into a bona fide Colombian classic like Lucho Bermudez’s “Salsipuedes,” take a Greek club version of a Mexican banda track written by an Argentine accordionist and come up with the cohesively international “Ritmo de Sinaloa,” and then there’s that unmistakable ragga skank all over “La Promesa,” with “La Cabezona” being an instrumental descarga that has no right to rumble so low, designed with dance halls and sound systems in mind.\n\nArmed with the collective energy of two authentic Colombian vocalists, a seriously massive brass section, heavy bass, funky guitar, salsa piano and equally authentic percussion, the 15-piece band combines elements of reggae, dancehall and roots from the Colombian Caribbean in a deft mix that is both retro and futuristic, authentically traditional and yet also experimental. Put together by a collective of Colombian and Australian musicians, the project has the common vision of introducing the purest sounds of the golden era of orchestrated cumbia to Australian audiences, but with a little something more added to the formula to keep things fresh.\n\nHaving triumphantly conquered their home country’s competitive music scene with sold out shows at numerous festivals and well-known venues all over Down Under, Cumbiamuffin are poised to break out to a global audience with their debut self-titled LP.\n\n**The Story Behind The Album**\n\nA lot of virtual connections were made during the pandemic, especially in the first year when it was much harder to travel and engage with the rest of the world physically. This was true in all aspects of life, and within the music industry, especially for independent record labels like Peace & Rhythm, it was no different. Though concerts, record fairs and DJ gigs had dried up and stores and concert venues had closed with no sign of light at the end of the tunnel, the label was in constant contact with a virtual network of musical friends both old and new, from DJs and store owners to musicians and writers. During those dark days of lockdown, a number of bands contacted Peace & Rhythm with projects, inquiring whether the label wanted to collaborate and release new recordings. Several of these artists were international and were unknown to the label. During this time, mutual friends in Colombia put Peace & Rhythm together with Cumbiamuffin, a large tropical band from Australia that had recorded a number of songs. Impressed, we decided it was only right that these tracks should be released, and together we began reaching out to remixers willing to add even more flavor to the final LP. Cumbiamuffin’s Australian DJ/producer/musician colleague OYOBI was first on board. We also contacted our Canadian friends Hyperopia and UK amigos Sounds & Colours, with the idea of an international partnership for producing and releasing the record, creating a truly Pan-Latin collaboration. Sounds & Colours, always at the forefront of discovering new talent, suggested a few other remixers and a final lineup was agreed upon. With side A made up of studio recordings, the plan was to devote the B side to remixes. In addition to OYOBI, remixes came from Prince of Queens (USA), Rizomagic (Colombia) and Turbo Sonidero (USA/Mexico). For the cover, we contacted the Colombian muralist and graffiti artist Yurika, who also happens to be a music fan and vinyl collector specializing in the tropical sounds of his country and was excited to join the project. With these elements all in place, the final piece was getting the record made, which, due to current economic and post-pandemic conditions, took far longer than expected, but now the album is complete, with vibrantly beautiful color variations to match Yurika’s cover art, skillfully created by Burlington Record Plant.\n\n_Pablo Yglesias / Peace & Rhythm_",

This is a group that can inject even more life into a bona fide Colombian classic like Lucho Bermudez’s “Salsipuedes,” take a Greek club version of a Mexican banda track written by an Argentine accordionist and come up with the cohesively international “Ritmo de Sinaloa,” and then there’s that unmistakable ragga skank all over “La Promesa,” with “La Cabezona” being an instrumental descarga that has no right to rumble so low, designed with dance halls and sound systems in mind.</p>\n<p>Armed with the collective energy of two authentic Colombian vocalists, a seriously massive brass section, heavy bass, funky guitar, salsa piano and equally authentic percussion, the 15-piece band combines elements of reggae, dancehall and roots from the Colombian Caribbean in a deft mix that is both retro and futuristic, authentically traditional and yet also experimental. Put together by a collective of Colombian and Australian musicians, the project has the common vision of introducing the purest sounds of the golden era of orchestrated cumbia to Australian audiences, but with a little something more added to the formula to keep things fresh.</p>\n<p>Having triumphantly conquered their home country’s competitive music scene with sold out shows at numerous festivals and well-known venues all over Down Under, Cumbiamuffin are poised to break out to a global audience with their debut self-titled LP.</p>\n<p><strong>The Story Behind The Album</strong></p>\n<p>A lot of virtual connections were made during the pandemic, especially in the first year when it was much harder to travel and engage with the rest of the world physically. This was true in all aspects of life, and within the music industry, especially for independent record labels like Peace & Rhythm, it was no different. Though concerts, record fairs and DJ gigs had dried up and stores and concert venues had closed with no sign of light at the end of the tunnel, the label was in constant contact with a virtual network of musical friends both old and new, from DJs and store owners to musicians and writers. During those dark days of lockdown, a number of bands contacted Peace & Rhythm with projects, inquiring whether the label wanted to collaborate and release new recordings. Several of these artists were international and were unknown to the label. During this time, mutual friends in Colombia put Peace & Rhythm together with Cumbiamuffin, a large tropical band from Australia that had recorded a number of songs. Impressed, we decided it was only right that these tracks should be released, and together we began reaching out to remixers willing to add even more flavor to the final LP. Cumbiamuffin’s Australian DJ/producer/musician colleague OYOBI was first on board. We also contacted our Canadian friends Hyperopia and UK amigos Sounds & Colours, with the idea of an international partnership for producing and releasing the record, creating a truly Pan-Latin collaboration. Sounds & Colours, always at the forefront of discovering new talent, suggested a few other remixers and a final lineup was agreed upon. With side A made up of studio recordings, the plan was to devote the B side to remixes. In addition to OYOBI, remixes came from Prince of Queens (USA), Rizomagic (Colombia) and Turbo Sonidero (USA/Mexico). For the cover, we contacted the Colombian muralist and graffiti artist Yurika, who also happens to be a music fan and vinyl collector specializing in the tropical sounds of his country and was excited to join the project. With these elements all in place, the final piece was getting the record made, which, due to current economic and post-pandemic conditions, took far longer than expected, but now the album is complete, with vibrantly beautiful color variations to match Yurika’s cover art, skillfully created by Burlington Record Plant.</p>\n<p><em>Pablo Yglesias / Peace & Rhythm</em></p>",

His latest project, _C.A.M.P.O.S. — Shake Up the World: Live In The Studio, Volume 2_ , a continuation of the previously released _Volume 1_ , is a self-accompanied solo act tour de force, played live in the studio, a performance that highlights his multi-faceted skills and abilities to great effect. In this way _Volume 2_ continues the exciting precedent initiated with the first volume, and comprises a playist that adheres to what would be a “second set” in an actual live concert context. **Joshua** ’s first record for **Peace & Rhythm**, _Miracles & Criminals_, was a far-ranging epic double album chock full of all kinds of musical influences, from folkloric and psychedelic cumbia to Cuban son, twisted disco to folky Americana, with touches of electro and synth pop thrown in for good measure. _Shake Up the World: Live In The Studio_ takes that daring foundational vision and performs it as an experiential live album in two parts.\n\nCurrently available digitally. Just in time to shake off the winter blues and get us in the mood for the parties to return.\n\n\n\nNext we have a pair of remixes from **Superprince** (Razor N Tape, Universal Cave). The princes of Philadelphia reimagine _Survival_ in their _Day_ and _Night _mixes. Superprince’s _Day_ time summer BBQ jam will make you kick off your shoes and throw your hands to the sky, soaking in the joy of the sunshine. After the sun sets, we head into the club for the _Night_ mix. No nonsense afrohouse for lovers of drums.\n\n\n\nOne of the hottest up and coming producers on the scene today, **GMGN** (Soul Clap, Midnight Riot, Toucan Sounds) brings the heat with this dynamic rendition of _Invitation_. GMGN takes the listener on a journey swirling between melodic synths, haunting vocals, dirty horns, and fuzzy guitars, while never losing sight of the dance floor.\n\n\n\nComposer **Jake Fader** is known for his film scores and work on Netflix shows in addition to being a veteran of **Kokolo** , **Los Terrificos** , and **Mifune**. Fader brings us into the 21st century, transforming _Body_ into a heavy psych-funk head nodder. The digitals will be available to download for those that purchase the 45. The digitals will also be available for sale. The following month's Bandcamp Friday, on March 5th, will mark the release date of the physical split 45. **To pre order, please visit us [here ](https://peacerhythm.bandcamp.com \"Bandcamp\")**\n\nAbout the release:\n\nYou might say **Buyepongo **and **Quitapenas **are sibling neighbor bands since they are of Mexican-American heritage, share some band members, have similar musical influences and are based in the Los Angeles area. Both transmit a similarly positive, socially committed outlook and life philosophy through their creative output. In addition they have toured together and are part of the same larger socio-musical community. That is not to say the bands sound exactly the same or have the same origin story. Rather, it means they have enough in common that over the years they have forged a strong bond of friendship that has proven mutually beneficial for both bands and has helped them grow and build in a unique, positive way. While each group maintains their own separate identity, they share a long-standing, committed fan base and both have previously released music on the same label as well. Most importantly Buyepongo and Quitapenas are part of an exciting generation of underground, independent, alternative Latin music inspired by tropical and folkloric roots from the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America as well as Africa, all of which is played with elements of jazz, psychedelia, electronica, and global funk.\n\nWith all of these connections it was only a matter of time before these two brother bands would decide to collaborate on a release, and in 2020 they did just that, approaching **Peace & Rhythm **with a concept born of their recent joint tour (which was sadly cut short by the global pandemic). Now, as 2021 begins a new year full of hope, this release is set to start things off with two super hot tracks presented side by side and packaged with some dope artwork by honorary band member Deladeso. Buyepongo’s **“Cantarito” **is an infectious, funky tropical romp that is the perfect soundtrack to an instant fiesta full of family and friends, food and fun. The lyrics mention making traditional tortillas and drinking from a _cantarito_(clay cup) while the band plays and the sun shines. The flip, **“Inspiración” **by Quitapenas, is equally upbeat and literally “inspiring” (pun intended), with its positive energy and lyrical outlook about the creative process.\n\nBoth cuts are fueled by smoking beats, compelling vocals, intricate guitar interplay and soaring sax, carrying you away into a state of ecstasy that is akin to a heightened feeling of spiritual bliss and oneness. In the midst of a busy stretch of summer festivals, the eight core members of MNGWA carved out a period of 3 days in remote Williams Lake, central British Columbia, where the EP was recorded in its entirety. Vancouver-based veteran sonic alchemist Brandon Hoffman (Blocktreat) engineered & produced the project from beginning to end (from the comfort of his own cabin), and his idiosyncratic approach to recording challenged MNGWA to set aside the maximalistic sheen of their previous records & embrace imperfection. Hoffman's choice to track the songs without a metronome gives Crackadoom a living, breathing and almost live quality. Crackadoom is MNGWA's most stripped-down and cohesive release yet, where the two worlds of psych rock & cumbia are integrated more than ever.
