“Isabella” is the fun new single from New York’s Locobeach. The tune combines sly humor and an infectious tropical cumbia rhythm to keep people dancing at the same time laughing with the satirical lyrics. While the melody is infectious and the chorus is definitely an earworm, what really captivates is the rhythmic breakdown in the middle of the song where the Locobeach rhythm section heats up the beats and it’s impossible to sit still.
Based on a personal experience, Locobeach’s co-leader Cheo Pardo (DJ Afro, Los Amigos Invisibles, Los Crema Paríso) sings about “Isabella”, a beautiful and talkative young lady he met at a gig who turned out to be not exactly what she seemed at first glance. Realizing by her youthful, somewhat extreme antics that he is feeling too old for the dating game with women half his age, he decides to call it a night and add it to his list of failed dates that provide, at the very least, a source for musical inspiration, if not romantic companionship.
